Bridgeport Police Department’s Own, Kateema Riettie Wins Jamaican National Javelin Title
Bridgeport Police Training Academy, recently won her seventh Jamaican National Championship in javelin. Officer Riettie, a native of Jamaica, won the national title on July 3, 2016, the final day of the Jamaican national Olympic trials in preparedness for the 2016 summer games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Her winning javelin throw sailed 49.89 meters, beating the national record holder, Olivia McKoy, who threw for 47.29 meters. Riettie, 42, threw her javelin just 12 meters short of qualifying for the Jamaican Olympic Team, which requires a score of 62.00m.
