Western Connecticut Health Network Offers Health and Wellness programs on Integrative Medicine, Diabetes Awareness and Smoking Cessation
A Community Health Forum on Integrative Medicine will take place at New Milford Hospital on Wednesday, November 15 starting at 6 pm in the New Milford Hospital Cafe. The program explores ideas related to healthy food choices, disease and cancer prevention habits and lifestyle with information and resources available to inspire changes in behavior. 24th Annual Stamford Health Expo will be on Saturday October 14, 2017
A community health fair is scheduled for Saturday October 14, 2017 at 9:00 am at 90 Fairfield Ave, Stamford, CT. The Hispanic Advisory Council of Greater Stamford (HACGS) is a networking organization that brings together representatives of non-profits, governmental agencies as well as local businesses serving the Hispanic community. The purpose of the HACGS network is to share information about resources available to the community, announce initiatives, create relationships, find collaborators and seek cooperation and coordination on various initiatives and programs. The council, established in 1996, brings thousands of dollars worth of free health care services to one to two thousand participants annually. The council seeks to find ways to collaborate and cooperate and find ways to serve the Hispanic community more effectively and efficiently. More

CT Hospital Studies Link Between Diabetes and Pancreatic Cancer
Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN) has just announced the launch of a $2.7 million 3-year research study that will investigate the link between new-onset diabetes and pancreatic cancer. The main goal is to detect the often lethal cancer at a curable stage. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal of human malignancies, with five-year survival rates of only 8 percent. It is on a trajectory to become the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the US by 2020.

Bridgeport Health and Social Services Department Seeking Community Input
As part of its preparation for accreditation as a local public health department, the Bridgeport Department of Health and Social Services is seeking input from residents of Bridgeport for its strategic plan.
