Murder trial the backdrop for Western’s fall theatre production
The 1913 trial of factory manager Leo Frank, who was accused and convicted of murdering a 13-year-old employee, Mary Phagan, was the factual basis for a collaboration between playwright Alfred Uhry and composer/lyricist Jason Robert Brown that resulted in the award-winning musical, “Parade.” The show, which opened on Broadway in 1998, won Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Original Score (out of nine nominations) and six Drama Desk Awards. “Parade” had a U.S. national tour and numerous professional and amateur productions in both the United States and abroad.

Treetops Chamber Music Society Features Three Young Ensembles in One Electrifying Concert
Continuing to celebrate its 10th anniversary season, Treetops Chamber Music Society's (Treetops CMS) upcoming concert on Sunday, October 18 will present the 2015 J.C. Arriaga Competition Winners and an art exhibit by Tammy Nguyen. The concert, following a well attended season opener in September, will feature the Blue Hill String Quartet, Light Duo (violin and piano) and Duo Adamo (flute and piano). They will perform Dvorak's String Quartet No. 14 in A-flat major, Op. 105; Ravel's Violin Sonata in G major No. 2; and Schubert's Variations for flute and piano on "Trockne Blumen" D. 802 respectively. The concert starts at 4pm; an artist's talk will take place at 3pm.

From Broadway to The Ridgefield Playhouse stage, Chazz Palminteri performs his one-man stage version of the award winning film "A Bronx Tale" on Friday, September 18, at 8 p.m. as part of the Ridgefield Magazine Broadway and Cabaret Series. Based on his childhood memories of working men and gangsters in the Italian-American neighborhood where he grew up, A Bronx Tale recounts the coming-of-age story of a young man torn between allegiance to his father’s upright working-class values and the alluring lifestyle of the local mob boss who befriends him. Palminteri originally wrote the script for the stage and performed it in Los Angeles where it became the hottest property in Hollywood since ROCKY. He moved the production to New York, where the stage version played to sold-out audiences for four months and earned him Outer Critics Circle Awards for both acting and writing. This special theater event is underwritten by Southridge Capital and Wells Fargo Band and is partially underwritten by Nutmeg Livery.
