Touring together for the first time, husband and wife banjo duo Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn perform at The Ridgefield Playhouse on October 9
Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn have performed as a duo since they first met, trying impromptu duets at picking parties, doing a few tunes at benefits, and occasional radio shows together, but the duo- who are now married to each other- never took their act on the road – until now. The Ridgefield Playhouse brings “the unofficial First Family of the Banjo” (NPR), Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn to the playhouse stage on Friday, October 9, at 8 p.m. The one-of-a-kind banjo duo performs as part of the Mountain Dew Country Series and Pepsi Rock Series Powered by Xfinity. Merchandise profits from this show will be donated to The Ridgefield Playhouse Arts for Everyone Initiative.

For six decades Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernandez, has brought Mexican history and culture to stages around the world. Chazz Palminteri performs his award-winning ‘A Bronx Tale’ on the stage of The Ridgefield Playhouse on September 18
From Broadway to The Ridgefield Playhouse stage, Chazz Palminteri performs his one-man stage version of the award winning film "A Bronx Tale" on Friday, September 18, at 8 p.m. as part of the Ridgefield Magazine Broadway and Cabaret Series. Based on his childhood memories of working men and gangsters in the Italian-American neighborhood where he grew up, A Bronx Tale recounts the coming-of-age story of a young man torn between allegiance to his father’s upright working-class values and the alluring lifestyle of the local mob boss who befriends him. Palminteri originally wrote the script for the stage and performed it in Los Angeles where it became the hottest property in Hollywood since ROCKY. He moved the production to New York, where the stage version played to sold-out audiences for four months and earned him Outer Critics Circle Awards for both acting and writing. This special theater event is underwritten by Southridge Capital and Wells Fargo Band and is partially underwritten by Nutmeg Livery. Westport Country Playhouse announces its 2016 season, featuring two Tony Award-winning plays in repertory, an Off-Broadway hit, a new thriller by a Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, a witty comedy by Joe Orton, and a reimagined musical by Lerner and Loewe. The works will be staged next year from May through October. The Life of Formula One World Champion, Ayrton Senna comes to the big screen at The Ridgefield Playhouse on August 19
Racing and driving enthusiasts fasten your seat belts! The third film in the new Lime Rock Drivers Club Film Series, Senna, will be screened in HD at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Wednesday, August 19, at 7 p.m. The gripping documentary on the extraordinary life of Brazilian Formula One racing driver Ayrton Senna. The evening includes guest speaker Keith Hudak who will talk about his time working in Formula 1 racing. Hudak worked during a very interesting time in Formula 1: He was the press agent and a photographer for Team Lotus from 1985 to 1987 – the three years when Ayrton Senna drove for the team. Now living in Kingston, N.Y., in 1991 Keith co-wrote and produced the book “Freezing Speed - Techniques of Grand Prix Photography,” with John Blakemore. Keith will surely have some tales to tell regarding the driver many consider F1’s finest. An inspiration and an icon, the often controversial Senna won three F1 world championships and is widely considered to be the greatest driver in history. There will be fun driving-related pre-screening festivities, and a full bar in the lobby. All proceeds from ticket sales, ads, and raffles will go towards much-needed building affordable housing throughout Fairfield County. Stamford: A small town remembers
If you missed this at the Avon Theatre, come to the Ferguson Library Thursday, August 13 at 7 p.m. for a special screening of the documentary, Stamford: A Small Town Remembers, followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Michael Macari. To create the film, Macari teamed up with long-time friend and Stamford attorney, the late Joseph Richichi, to bring to light the history of their hometown—chronicling the rise of Connecticut’s premier city from its small town roots.
