Award-winning artists at the opening reception for the Rowayton Arts Center's "Photography & Sculpture" exhibition are (from left): Tony Velez (2nd black/white photo), Pierre Lahaussois (1st sculpture), Gaile Ramey (3rd color photo), Shavkat Inagamov (1st color photo), Robert Sachs (best in show) and Shamik Ganguly (1st black/white photo). Not present was Marcy Juran (2nd color photo). The exhibition of high-quality photography and sculpture by RAC members continues through June 24. Gallery hours at RAC, 145 Rowayton Avenue, are 12:00-5:00 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 1:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free.
"The Highliners," a color photograph by Robert Sachs of Norwalk, was awarded Best in Show for the Photography & Sculpture exhibition that opened June 3 at the Rowayton Arts Center. "The composition, color and detail are really wonderful," said photographer-teacher Jane McWhorter, who selected the winning artwork from 37 photography entries and six sculptures. "I feel that the four people are totally isolated from each other while still occupying the same space. The artist captured a very 'city' moment when people in a public place can be completely uninvolved with anyone but themselves."

The Color Photography winners are: 1st - Shavkat Inagamov (New York City), who was selected as a new RAC exhibiting member in May, 2nd - Marcy Juran (Westport), and 3rd - Gaile Ramey (Branford). Black & White Photography awards went to: 1st - Shamik Ganguly (Stamford) and 2nd - Tony Velez (Norwalk). Pierre Lahaussois (Rowayton) is the first place Sculpture winner.

The exhibition at the RAC Gallery, 145 Rowayton Avenue, continues through June 24, and features high-quality photography and sculpture by RAC exhibiting members. Gallery hours are 12:00-5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday (closed Monday). Admission is free.
