Stamford photographer wins first place

Bare Trees/Shamik Ganguly of Stamford
"Bare Trees" by Shamik Ganguly of Stamford won first place in the Black & White Photograph category for the Photography & Sculpture exhibition that opened June 3 at the Rowayton Arts Center.

"This stunning image is very other-worldly and mysterious," said Jane McWhorter, who selected the winning artwork. "I have no idea where this landscape is and what forces have made it look this way. The drama of the composition works perfectly with the subject matter."

The exhibition at the RAC Gallery, 145 Rowayton Avenue, continues through June 24, and features high-quality photography and sculpture by RAC exhibiting members.

Gallery hours are 12:00-5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday (closed Monday). Admission is free.
