An AllShows.com VIP Party Pass ($25 addt'l per person) is available for this show and includes a pre-show cocktail party 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. with open bar, hors-d’oeuvre and priority parking. The acoustic rock band Vertical Horizon was formed in 1990 by Georgetown University undergrads Matthew Scannell and Keith Kane. After graduation in 1991, the duo relocated to Boston and self-released their debut album There and Back Again. Matt and Keith played all the instruments featured on the album, though their mainstay is acoustic guitar. Vertical Horizon writes all the music they play. Today’s Vertical Horizon’s genres, styles and sounds are the band’s “tools of the trade”, but they’re used with such variety—such intricacy—that it’s a challenge to “classify” the band’s sound. It’s rock, but nuances make it hard to define. Current band members are Matt Scannell (vocalist, guitarist), Steve Fekete (guitarist), Ron LaVella (drummer) and Cedric LeMoyne (bassist). Their most recent studio album, Burning the Days, was released in late 2009 and is a true testament to their commitment to making brilliant music. According to Scannell, the album is “sonically as good as anything we have ever done. This album and our renewed sense of creativity really resonates with our fans.” Burning the Days features virtuoso drummer Neil Peart of Rush on “Save Me from Myself”, “Even Now”, and “Welcome to the Bottom”. The two radio singles from the album, “Save Me from Myself” and “The Lucky One” have been successful on the Hot AC charts. According to Alternative Addiction, “This album is a perfect showcase for Vertical Horizon’s return to the spotlight….” For tickets ($55) and more information about The Ridgefield Playhouse, call the box office (203) 438-5795, or order online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
