Shawn Colvin will celebrate the release of her new album, All Fall Down, and her new memoir, Diamond In The Rough, when she returns to perform at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, June 22, at 8 p.m.

Colvin is a Grammy® Award winning singer/songwriter known for her hits “Sunny Came Home”, “Get Out Of This House” and “These Four Walls”. Shawn stands out from the crowd of female singer/songwriters with her singular, enduring talent highlighted by a plethora of rock/contemporary folk tunes including "Polaroids", "Wichita Skyline" and "Shotgun Down The Avalanche".

Her new album is a collection of eleven songs, which feature guest artists Alison Krauss, Emmylou Harris, Jakob Dylan, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Stuart Duncan, Bill Frisell, Viktor Krauss and Brian Blade.

Shawn will do a booksigning of her new memoir in the lobby following the show. Special guest is Amy Cook, an American singer/songwriter who did much of the writing and recording of The Sky Observer’s Guide. Media sponsor is 90.7fm WFUV.

The Ancient Mariner (451 Main St., Ridgefield) is offering a free glass of house wine at dinner the night of the show when tickets are presented. This event is part of the Doyle Coffin Architecture Singer/Songwriter Series.

A fan shared her experience attending a recent Shawn Colvin concert with Ticketmaster.com: “Shawn Colvin truly was amazing! She was very funny, personable and down to earth, playing the entire show as a solo singer songwriter guitarist. She has such a strong sense of rhythm and the ability to accompany herself on the guitar with interesting, intricate arrangements, and her songs are so well-crafted, as well as poetic and from the heart, that there was never a dull moment!”

In the 19 years since the release of her debut album, Colvin has won three Grammy® Awards, delivered eight albums, maintained a non-stop international touring schedule and appeared on countless television and radio programs. Colvin’s songs have been chosen for major motion pictures and television shows, and she was featured on the Lisa Loeb single "Falling in Love". Colvin's "Nothin' on Me" served as the theme song to the Brooke Shields sitcom Suddenly Susan.

For tickets ($50), call the box office at 203-438-5795. For more information on The Ridgefield Playhouse, visit ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
