The Manzarek-Rogers Band has been wowing audiences in a run-up to the May 24 release of their new CD Translucent Blues and will be in concert in support of the album at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Wednesday, May 25, at 8 p.m. with featured artist The Doors keyboard player and co-founder Ray Manzarek. He teams up with slide guitar master Roy Rogers for a new take on The Doors classics (think “Riders on the Storm” and “The Crystal Ship”) plus blues and jazz standards.

This event is sponsored by Green Light Limousine Services and Route 7 Music, Brookfield, CT, with media sponsor i95fm. There will be a wine tasting in the lobby at 7 p.m. compliments of Fairgrounds Wines and Spirits.

The timing couldn’t be better for the tour to stop in Ridgefield the day after Manzarek-Rogers’ new CD comes out. Translucent Blues is a contemporary soul recording with intensity and creative energy whose songs show off multi-layered arrangements and stylistic depth.

Sacramento 365 observed: “Manzarek and Rogers have put their artistic minds together and created a captivating new concert experience.” Critics are raving about the level of musicianship that these two consummate artists bring to the stage. In addition to his guitar virtuosity, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Manzarek is an award-winning singer, producer, film director and writer who has penned Light My Fire: My Life with The Doors among other titles. His sidekick Rogers was in fact named after the singing cowboy, Roy Rogers. Like Manzarek, he’s an internationally acclaimed producer, having won awards for his work with John Lee Hooker (four Grammy® Nominations and two Grammy® Awards) and Ramblin' Jack Elliott (two Grammy® Nominations).

For tickets ($45), call or visit the box office at The Ridgefield Playhouse, (203) 438-5795. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT; ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
