On May 4th, the Young Women’s League of New Canaan hosted Couture for a Cause Fashion Show at the Loading Dock in Stamford. With nearly 200 people in attendance, the YWL’s spring fundraiser brought in almost $20,000 that will be used to fund the numerous grants given by the YWL to area non-profit organizations.

“We are so grateful to the many people that made this event possible – over 12 New Canaan retail shops loaned us clothing for the event; Blue Mercury, Benefit & Space NK makeup artists did the models’ makeup; and Kiklo Hair Salon did everyone’s hair again this year. All of our models looked gorgeous!” said event co-chair Amy Fields.

The top event sponsors for Couture for a Cause included Serendipity Magazine, Mercedes-Benz of Greenwich, Norwalk Hospital, Walin & Wolff and UBS. In addition to these cash donations, Diageo brands Ciroc and Johnny Walker along with Stew Leonard’s Wines made in-kind donations of spirits and beverages.

YWL President and event model Amy Burger said, “There are so many people in town talking about the looks shown by the stores. We were glad to help our retailers show people what amazing clothing you can get right here in New Canaan. And we were really honored to have Rob & Liz Mallozzi join us for the party.”

At the YWL closing dinner on May 16th, the final grant amounts were announced to YWL membership and the top three designated beneficiaries were in attendance to accept their grants. The YWL is proud to be directing the placement of $75,000 this year.
