Over 350 people attended ARI's Sixth Annual Walk for Independence

Stamford, CT - The 6th Annual ARI Walk for Independence took place on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Cove Island Park in Stamford. Over 350 participants, including clients, staff and supporters raised $40,000 in donations to support ARI programs. Special guests for the event included State Representative Daniel Fox and Stamford Board of Representatives member Gloria DePina (on behalf of Congressman Jim Himes).

ARI President and CEO, Matthew Reyher welcomed the crowed in attendance and read a letter from Senator Joseph Lieberman. State Representative Daniel Fox and Stamford Board of Representative member Gloria DePina both spoke thanking ARI for their service to the community. Marcus Sweeney and Barbara Aronica Buck, co-chairs of the event both spoke thanking all for attending. Warm-up exercises were led by Jill Tomasello of Advanced Physical Therapy before members of the Stamford Police led the 3-mile walk around Cove Island Park.

Breakfast, lunch and snacks were generously provided by Darius Jamshidian of the West Main Street SUBWAY, the Cingari family ShopRite, Robeks and Liz Sue Bagels. In addition, David S. Lapine, Inc. provided grills and volunteers to help cook hot dogs for the picnic lunch.

“For six years we have seen this event continue to grow. We are overwhelmed by the continued support from the Stamford Community towards the Walk for Independence. Overall, this year’s Walk exceeded all of our expectation and was a great success,” says Matthew Reyher, ARI President & CEO. “We would like to thank our numerous sponsors and each individual that helped make it happen. Events like the Walk for Independence are crucial to our agency.”
