STAMFORD, CT - SilverSource will honor the Lifetime Learners Institute at the 4th Annual SilverSource Inspiring Lives Benefit Luncheon featuring New Yorker cartoonist and author Roz Chast on November 7th.

The Lifetime Learners Institute (LLI) will receive a SilverSource Contribution to Community Award for their work helping Fairfield County residents aged 50 and over stay sharp, curious, active and connected. Each year this award is given to an outstanding organization or business that provides significant improvements to the region as a place to live and retire.

Located within Norwalk Community College, LLI presents engaging continuing education learning experiences throughout the year. With a motto of ‘Never Stop Learning,’ the organization has over 850 members from nearly every town in Fairfield County. The 40 fall semester course offerings range from art and music to current events, communism and Tai Chi.

“For more than 25 years this outstanding volunteer-run, older adult education organization has enriched the lives of our older community and created opportunities for connection,” said Kathleen Bordelon, Executive Director of SilverSource. “For seniors living at home, isolation can be a serious problem, but LLI breaks through that barrier, making our area a happier and healthier place to live.”

The organization also provides volunteers and mentors to Norwalk Community College (NCC), awards scholarships to its students and makes contributions to the NCC Foundation.

The 4th Annual SilverSource Inspiring Lives Benefit Luncheon will take place from 11am – 2pm on November 7th at Serafina at the I/C, 1620 Newfield Avenue in Stamford, CT. Roz Chast, author and renowned cartoonist for “The New Yorker,” will share insights from her award-winning memoir, Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant? (Bloomsbury, 2014), a graphic novel portraying Chast’s own experiences with her aging parents.

Visit to purchase tickets, which begin at $150. Proceeds will provide essential funds to improve the quality of life of older adults and provide critical financial assistance for those in great need of community support.

Gene Rubino, founder of Plaza Realty & Management Corporation, will serve as honorary event chair alongside co-chairs, Adele Gordon and Polly Rauh. SilverSource would like to thank its media sponsor, Stamford Magazine/Moffly Media.
