Norwalk, CT - The Summer Game has been underway for a month now, at both the Norwalk Public Library and Rowayton Library, with children in elementary through high school eagerly completing reading-related challenges to earn badges and raffle tickets for prizes. Each level of the Summer Game challenges participants to read a specified number of suggested books on the Summer Reading Lists from the Norwalk Public Schools. It’s a fun, easy way to encourage and promote a life-long love of reading from an early age.

This year’s unique badges, which represent the Summer Game theme – “Build a Better World” – were designed by New Canaan High School student Jake N., who works part-time as a shelver at NPL. Jake finds graphic design interesting and exciting because it encourages him “to think creatively and use my past experiences to help construct something visually pleasing, while conveying a clear message to its audience.” Jake plans to attend college after high school and continue his education in graphic arts, although he’s also interested in languages and international studies. After seeing his visually striking badges, it’s clear that Jake is on the path to succeed in all his future endeavors.

The Summer Game continues through August. It’s not too late to sign-up and play. Contact NPL at (203) 899-2780 ext. 15131, or the Rowayton Library at (203) 838-5038, for help to register online. Don’t miss out on the experience, get in the GAME this summer!
