The State Department of Transportation is announcing that the removal of certain trees identified as potentially hazardous along the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield will begin Monday, February 6, 2012. The trees being removed have been identified by DOT experts, the Town of Fairfield’s Tree Warden, and members of the Merritt Parkway Conservancy as posing a hazard to motorists and needing removal. The tree removal operation will be performed on Route 15 (North and Southbound) in Fairfield between the Congress Street Underpass and the Redding Road Underpass. Motorists can expect lane closures between Exit 42 and Exit 44. This project is scheduled for Monday, February 6, 2012 to Friday, March 30, 2012.

Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Northbound and 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Southbound (Monday - Friday).

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work area.
