Webster Bank hires Colin Gillespie as SVP of brand marketing

WATERBURY, CT - Webster Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Colin Homer Gillespie as senior vice president of brand marketing. He reports to Chief Marketing Officer Dawn C. Morris.

Gillespie comes to Webster Bank after a 17-year career with The LEGO Group, where he held a variety of positions including president of LEGO Education North America; vice president of marketing, LEGO Latin America; and general manager, vice president of the LEGO direct-to-consumer group in Europe. Most recently, Gillespie served as executive in residence at New Profit, a Boston-based national nonprofit venture philanthropy fund where he served as the firm’s executive in residence since 2017.

“Colin has demonstrated that he is adept at transforming consumer insights into memorable and authentic brand experiences, said Morris, adding, “We are excited to have him join the leadership team and bring his deep experience in organizational brand development, data-driven marketing strategy and retail brand experience with a laser focus on the customer.”

A proven executive with deep marketing experience, Gillespie has been recognized as an insightled marketer who inspires teams around a common purpose producing record new category launches, growth in retail partnerships, and innovative brand engagements, all designed to strengthen customer acquisition and advocacy.

A resident of West Hartford, Connecticut, Gillespie earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA in marketing, with distinction, from the Wake Forest University School of Business.

As an advocate for volunteering with organizations that provide opportunity for others, Gillespie serves as a Strategic Fellow with LEAP Innovations, a nonprofit organization that connects innovation and education to transform the way children learn. He also volunteers as a coach for the West Hartford Youth Lacrosse League and has participated as an avid bicyclist in causedriven group rides including the Pan-Mass Challenge.
