Waldorf, MD - The Bridgeport Bluefish (9-3) won the second straight extra-innings contest against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (6-6) on Tuesday at Regency Furniture Stadium. Bridgeport hung on for a 4-3 victory in ten innings. Bridgeport has won seven of the last eight.

After the game was scoreless through the first five-and-a-half innings, Southern Maryland got on the board in the sixth. A solo shot by Jeremy Owens to leftcenter gave the Blue Crabs a one-run advantage.

The Bluefish tied the contest in the eighth .Luis Rodriguez walked with one out and advanced to second on a single by Pedro Lopez. Eddie Rogers followed with an RBI single to leftcenter to tie the contest at one.

The teams were held off the scoreboard until the tenth when Bridgeport came up with three runs. With a runner at second base, Lopez singled to center to break the tie. Rogers followed with a two-run shot in the next at-bat. His homer to left gave the Bluefish a three-run advantage.

Southern Maryland cut the margin down to two when Owens doubled with runners at first and second. After the extra-base hit, with runners in scoring position, Paco Figueroa walked and Chin-Lung Hu singled to right to score the first runner; but Owens was gunned out at the plate by Collin DeLome. The bases were re-loaded on a walk before Brian Barton and Mike Daniel struck out against Bluefish reliever Jonah Bayliss to end the game.

Bridgeport starter, Paul Oseguera, worked seven frames and gave up one run on three hits and a walk. The southpaw struck out five in his outing. Oseguera was relieved by Joe Bateman who tossed an-inning-and-a-third of scoreless ball. The righthander walked one and struck out three. Jesse English (1-0) picked up the victory for the Bluefish even though the second relief pitcher surrendered two runs on two hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning. Bayliss closed out the contest by notching his second save after giving up two walks and a hit.

Southern Maryland starter, Dan Reichert, delivered seven innings of scoreless baseball on two hits and two walks while fanning two but did not factor in the decision. Bryan Dumesnil allowed the tying run in the eighth, two hits and a walk in his two-and-a-third innings out of the bullpen before Jim Ed Warden (1-3) entered. The Blue Crabs closer suffered the loss as Bridgeport produced three runs on two hits in two-thirds of an inning.
