Bridgeport, CT - The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced the signings of infielder Brock Peterson and pitchers Brad Furnish and Franklyn Gracesqui. Peterson and Furnish will return for their second season with the Bluefish, while Gracesqui will make his Park City debut.

“Brock, Brad, and Franklyn are tremendous additions to our team,” says Bluefish manager Willie Upshaw. “We look forward to their contributions this season.”

Peterson returns to the Bluefish for his second year in the Atlantic League and 10th of professional baseball. Last season in Bridgeport, the slugger batted .272 with 11 home runs, 18 doubles, 31 RBI, and 41 runs scored over the course of 71 games. The Washington resident was originally selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 49th round of the 2002 amateur draft and made his debut with Rookie-level Elizabethtown the following year. Before coming to the Park City, he spent his entire career with the Twins organization, having reached as high as the Triple-A level with Rochester of the International League where he played from 2008-2010. Brock’s best season as a professional came in 2006 with Single-A Fort Myers of the Florida State League. He amassed a .291 batting average with a personal-high 21 home runs, 75 RBI and 130 hits. For his career, the 28-year-old holds a .269 batting average with 120 home runs, 499 RBI and 519 runs scored in 955 contests.

Furnish returns to the Bluefish for his sixth year of professional baseball. The lefthander began last season with the Bluefish and appeared in 15 games (three starts), posting a 2-1 record with a 2.70 ERA. He struck out 32 batters over the course of 36.2 innings pitched and held opposing hitters to a .218 batting average. After this impressive performance, Brad had his contract purchased by the Chicago White Sox and would split time between Single-A Winston-Salem and Single-A Kannapolis. The 27-year-old began his professional career in 2006 with State College (A, Cardinals) of the New York Penn League following a successful collegiate season at TCU. Furnish owns a 27-29 career minor league record with a 4.35 ERA and 415 strikeouts over the course of 533 innings of work. Furnish was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the second round of the 2006 amateur draft.

Gracesqui enters his 15th year of professional baseball as he joins the Bluefish for his first tour in the Park City and fourth in the Atlantic League. Last season, the former Major Leaguer appeared in seven games for Independent Yuma of the North American League and posted a 3.86 ERA with 10 strikeouts. The lefthander has one stint in the Major Leagues during his career, which occurred in 2004 with the Florida Marlins when he appeared in seven games in relief. The 32-year-old has also spent time in the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles organizations. He made his Atlantic League debut in 2008 with the Newark Bears, pitching in 15 games. The following campaign he would join the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs as a late season addition, and in 2010 would appear in 11 games for the York Revolution, posting a 2.84 ERA. In 291 career minor league games, Franklyn owns a 19-27 record with a 3.99 ERA, 19 saves, and 438 punchouts in 426.1 innings of work.

The Bridgeport Bluefish Professional Baseball Club, a charter team in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, plays its home games at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard, located off Exit 27 of I-95 on the corner of Broad Street and South Frontage Road in Bridgeport. 2012 season tickets, mini-plans, group outings, and individual tickets are available by calling 203-345-4800.
