Bridgeport, CT - The Bridgeport Bluefish (13-9) defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters (8-14) by a score of 7-2 on Saturday night at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

Sugar Land started off the scoring in the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, Kade Johnson served a two-run single to get the Skeeters a two-run lead.

Bridgeport responded by pushing five runners to the plate that same inning. The biggest hit came from Collin DeLome as the outfielder lined a bases-clearing double to leftcenter to give the Bluefish the first lead of the night at 3-2. The outfielder advanced to third on a throw home to try to nail the third runner at the plate. With runners at the corners later in the frame, Kennard Jones sent a single to left to bring the fourth run across and establish runners at first and second. Pedro Lopez grounded a single to push Angel Flores home.

The Bluefish added one more run in the sixth. DeLome singled to center and stole second. He moved to third on a long fly ball to right. Flores lined a single to center to plate DeLome.

The scoring ended in the eighth when DeLome sent a triple to rightcenter; the outfielder came up one hit shy of the cycle. Flores looped a single to leftcenter, with one out, to push the final run of the night to the plate.

Bluefish starter, Gilbert De La Vara (1-1), picked up the victory as the southpaw worked five innings and allowed two runs on five hits and five walks while fanning three. Jonah Bayliss was the first pitcher to come out of the bullpen as the righthander delivered two shutout innings and gave up one hit while striking out one. Rommie Lewis finished the night on the mound as Sugar Land collected one hit and a strikeout in two frames against lefthander.

Skeeters starter, Bobby Livingston (1-2), suffered the loss as the southpaw allowed five runs, eight hits, and two walks while fanning five. Trey Rackel and Eric Krebs combined to complete the final three innings. The tandem surrendered two runs on five hits and three strikeouts.
