“We will be offering more than 65 classes throughout the summer months to provide our residents and local seniors with active, fun and exciting opportunities to make new friends and continue to learn and grow while doing so,” The Watermark at 3030 Park Executive Director Chris Romick said. One Watermark University option is the community’s second annual “Are You Fitter Than A Senior?” event, held on June 2 at the community’s fitness center. The Watermark at 3030 Park Fitness Director Cindy McGuire will lead a team of seniors in a rematch against high school students from Central High School in Bridgeport. The two teams will compete in a series of physical fitness challenges. McGuire is a certified group exercise instructor with over 25 years of experience. The students from Central High School are members of BuildOn, the school’s non-profit group that encourages high school students to participate in service projects within their communities. “Cocktails & Culture,” is another course that allows seniors to socialize while learning about world history at the same time. The class is taught by Watermark’s Assistant Plant Director Carol Goncalves on the third Friday of every month at 3:30 p.m. Participants will travel the world, without ever leaving the Watermark’s new pub, learning the history behind popular drinks in different countries. The class teaches students how to create the cocktails, and samples are provided. Watermark’s Community Life Director Tracy-Ann Samuel will be teaching a computer training course on the second Monday of each month at 1:30 p.m. The class will provide guidance on sending e-mails, setting up a Facebook account, and navigating the internet. It is open to all ability levels and will be held in the Watermark’s computer lounge. Other summer class topics include art, music, finance, and religion. Most Watermark University classes are free of charge and open to the public.
