STAMFORD, CT - The Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut (CGC), a local non-profit mental health resource, received a $12,000 grant from the First County Bank Foundation to support Emergency Mobile Psychiatric Services (EMPS) for children and adolescents in Stamford, Greenwich, Darien and New Canaan.

“As the demand for mental health services continues to grow for youngsters at the highest risk, we are very grateful for the Foundation’s renewed support for the critical services of our emergency mobile team,” explains CGC’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Sherry Perlstein. “First County Bank exemplifies the strength of a local community partnership and the positive impact it creates through support of immediate access to professional crisis intervention for local children and teens in desperate need of help. We applaud their ongoing commitment to the children and families of lower Fairfield County.”

With a special focus on youth suicide and violence prevention, the EMPS team provides immediate mental health assessment and crisis stabilization services for children and adolescents experiencing serious psychiatric symptoms and severe reactions to a recent traumatic event. Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with services provided where they are needed, at home, school or in the community. For immediate help with any youth behavioral crisis, please dial 211 to be connected with the local EMPS team.

However, please do not wait until it is an emergency to get help. If you are concerned that your child is troubled, unhappy or anxious, or if you are interested in learning more about professional mental health services, please call the Child Guidance Center at (203) 324-6127.
