The presentation will include discussion of diagnosis, signs and symptoms, prevention and treatment of strokes, including the new minimally invasive procedures to treat strokes offered at WCHN. To register for this program, please call 1-866-NHB-WELL.

Norwalk Hospital will host a Red Cross community blood drive to benefit patients in need on Friday, July 21 from 1:30 pm to 6:15 pm in the Patio Room on the 5th floor.

Because the need for blood remains constant, the Red Cross urges donors of all blood types to give blood or platelets to help keep supplies ready to go, so they are ready for all patients when they need them the most. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health. The Red Cross recommends drinking plenty of fluids on the day of donation, wearing comfortable clothing with sleeves that can be rolled up, eating iron-rich foods in the weeks prior to donation and bringing a list of any medications taken along with a photo I.D. or blood donor card.

The actual donation only takes about 10-12 minutes, but donors should allow one hour for registration, a confidential health history session and refreshments after their donation. To make an appointment to give blood simply download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

The Diebold Family Cancer Center at New Milford Hospital, located at 21 Elm Street, will host a free skin cancer screening on Saturday, July 29, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon (BY APPOINTMENT ONLY). The screening will be conducted during New Milford’s Village Fair Days and provided by board certified dermatologists. To make an appointment, please call 1-800-350-1595. The public is invited and encouraged to take advantage of this free screening. Please note – this is a screening only, no treatment will be provided.
